Our dear Jeane had a pacemaker put in last week. Prayers for her please as she is in a lot of pain and the incision is very sore. She cannot drive for another week.

Elizabeth Reeves needs prayers too as they found some cancer cells in her body. I have not been able to reach her to find out any more about her condition.

Tanzie will let us know when she wants to have another sewing day for the Mustard Tree hats. She said they made 49 the day that they met!

Several years ago, I included with the newsletter, a profile of a member. Since we have so many “newer” members, let’s do this again. I will make up a form, you fill it out and give it back to me. Then each newsletter will have a profile with it. This will help us to know each other a little more!

Until next time, happy stitchin’!  Judy

Hexie Table Runner and My 15 Minutes of Fame!

Check it out!!! I have made it in blog land!

My hexie table runner is featured on today's post by Peg Coen of Happy in Quilting! I can't believe it! I'm so proud.

I emailed Peg to ask a question about a hexie table runner she had shown on her May 6th post and she was soooo sweet. She offered me some advice and asked me to send her a picture when it was finished. So I did. When she got it she asked me if she could show it on her blog, which she did today!

Can you tell I'm excited? It's my 15 minutes of fame!

Crochet Anyone?

Okay, I know we're quilters .......

Have you guys met Lucy over at Attic24? She crochets........and when I say she crochets I mean SHE CROCHETS A LOT!!!

Anyway, besides sharing glorious pictures of rural England (man do I want to go so badly!) and lovely pictures of her home and crocheting projects, she recently shared instructions to make Granny Triangles for a ginormous bunting being created for an upcoming event. She has invited all comers to join in so of course you know what I did?!?! I started making Granny Triangles!

So, if you crochet and have a little time...and I mean very little time as they don't take long at all....find some yarn scraps, check out her blog and get busy! She will giving out an address to send them to in the very near future.

Info sent to Lucy Large for the MQA Newsletter What do you think? Did I represent us well?

Info for newsletter
Magnolia Quilt Guild Meridian, MS
The Guild has been incredibly busy. Since last newsletter, we were busily helping the Carousel Quilters in Meridian get ready for the Spring gathering in Meridian, by making and donating door prizes, making “heart” mug rugs, planning for the meals to be served, planning for and helping to decorate for the great session. I love the unity that guilds bring to the table whether it is to quilt or build community. Items we are working on now include:
·         We have begun the process of making ornaments for a tree that we will decorate in December 2013 at historic Merrehope in Meridian.
·         We are working on red, white, and blue quilt blocks for veteran quilts.
·         We are bringing in other 12 ½ inch blocks so they can be combined for the Christmas season on giving.
·         We have a “quilt on the rack” that we work on each month that will be auctioned or donated when the time comes.
·         Each month we go to Bedford Nursing home to quilt with the ladies who live there. Occasionally, we have a gentleman join us, but mainly our ladies come each month. One quilt has been completed and will be donated to a fire department in North Meridian this fall for their fundraising efforts.
·         We gave out handmade “happies” to the residents of Bedford for Christmas and Valentine’s day
·         We celebrated our 30 year anniversary as a guild on February 13, 2013 and honored our 2 charter members, Judy Hines and Jeane Jones.
We have added several new members and are enjoying our time of gathering…greeting…gabbing… and giving…to each other, our community and the larger world,,, which is the mission of the Magnolia Quilt Guild, Meridian, MS Mississippi
